Gisele Bundchen is one of the world’s most famous supermodels and is known for her enviable physique.

However, she recently revealed that after having two children, her breasts looked smaller and asymmetrical and made her feel uncomfortable in her own skin.

She elected to have breast augmentation because she wanted to regain her pre-pregnancy body and realized that no amount of diet or exercise could change the size or shape of her breasts.

Keep reading to learn what breast augmentation entails and what patients can expect should they decide to seek surgery like Gisele.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that can modify the size and shape of breasts.

It can also improve breast projection, upper pole fullness, symmetry, and volume to make breasts more proportionate with a woman’s body.

These changes can be accomplished using different types of breast implants, which are made of saline and silicone.

While the size of saline implants can be adjusted intraoperatively, silicone implants arrive pre-filled from the manufacturer.

In addition to composition, patients will choose between round and anatomical shaped implants and smooth or textured implants.

Why Do Patients Like Gisele Seek Breast Surgery?

Many patients like Gisele seek breast augmentation because they want to look and feel their best.

Some women that undergo this procedure have always been self-conscious about the size of their breasts and are hoping to achieve a curvier and more feminine figure.

While others turn to breast augmentation after noticing that their breasts appear deflated after pregnancy and breast-feeding.

This was the case for Gisele, who shared that her breasts looked considerably smaller after having two children and made her feel like she no longer recognized her own body.

She was also concerned about unevenness in her breasts and hoped that an augmentation could correct this issue.

What Can You Expect From Breast Augmentation Results?

A number of patients are instantly pleased with the added volume, fullness, and cleavage that they have after breast augmentation.

However, like Gisele, it’s not uncommon for patients to be surprised at the size and position of their breasts for several weeks post-op. That’s because, right after surgery, breast implants often sit higher on the chest and appear larger due to swelling.

Over the course of the next few months, implants will begin to look, feel, and move more naturally as they descend and reach their final position in the breast implant pocket.

It’s important to note that it can take up to six months before patients are able to see the full effects of their breast augmentation surgery.
