All About Fraxel
In a time where multi-tasking, efficiency, and versatility are key, Fraxel offers a way for women and men to revitalize their skin and address numerous concerns without plastic surgery or downtime. Continue reading to learn all about this FDA-approved treatment, including how it works, what to expect from the procedure, and why you should consider Fraxel.
What is Fraxel?
Fraxel is a non-invasive laser-based treatment designed to rejuvenate skin on the face, neck, décolletage, hands, and other parts of the body. It can treat a variety of cosmetic concerns including acne scars, wrinkles, lines, age spots, photo damage, melasma, enlarged pores, and uneven tone and texture.
How Does Fraxel Work?
While most lasers deliver a single concentrated beam of light, Fraxel works differently.
As a fractional laser, it applies light-based energy in a grid of microscopic columns that resemble pixel dots. Consequently, Fraxel targets only a percentage of cells, allowing the remaining cells to trigger a wound healing response and stimulate the growth of new collagen.
Fraxel is also a non-ablative laser, meaning it doesn’t remove the top layer of skin. Accordingly, patients have little to no downtime following this procedure.
What to Expect from Treatment?
Approximately one hour prior to Fraxel, a topical anesthetic is applied to numb the treatment area. During the procedure, patients comfortably recline and may experience a warm, prickling sensation. A chilling device, that delivers a cooling effect to the skin, assists in alleviating any discomfort.
Fraxel treatments can take anywhere between 20-60 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being addressed.
Post-procedure, the skin may look and feel like a mild sunburn for 1-3 days. However, all normal activities can be resumed immediately after.
What Are the Benefits of Fraxel?
Fraxel is considered by many aesthetic experts to be the gold standard of laser resurfacing due to its safety profile and efficacy. It’s also an excellent non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation and is especially well-suited for women and men that have mild to moderate damage.
Best of all, Fraxel offers both immediate and progressive results. In the days and weeks following treatment, patients will note that their skin is softer, smoother, brighter, and more even. Within 3-6 months, Fraxel’s regenerative effects continue to soften wrinkles, diminish age spots, and fade discoloration. At Cultura, Fraxel is used in combination with other lasers as a way to achieve complexion blending.
