What is Complexion Blending™?
It is a fine-tuned method of removing and reducing the imperfections that result in an uneven skin tone. Complexion Blending™ at Cultura in Washington, DC is our trademarked and proprietary way of blending your skin color and tone so that you no longer need to wear makeup to camouflage your unwanted dark spots, blemishes and scars.
Cultura remains the leader in Complexion Blending™ treatments to even out uneven skin tone. These treatments are safe and effective for all patients of all races, ethnicities and skin color. Complexion Blending™ combines several laser devices and dermatologic and spa technologies to greatly even the skin's tone and color.
Our dermatologists and staff are experts on performing Complexion Blending™ treatments and can safely treat all skin types and conditions, regardless of ethnicity or skin color. We also take pride in the way we treat each and every patient and are determined to provide caring, personalized service for each individual patient.
For patients with lighter skin tones, Cultura's experts choose from among 7 different non-invasive lasers to remove unwanted sun-damage, dark spots, facial moles and to remove melasma (symmetrical pigmented facial patches) which can be caused by over-exposure to the sun, trauma, or medical conditions. Because there is no recovery period with these lasers, patients can return to work or be seen by friends immediately after they have been treated. Most of Cultura's lasers, including our Genesis, Cooltouch, IPL, Diolite, and Fraxel lasers are non-invasive and require Washington, DC patients to return for 3 to 6 monthly treatments.
For patients who want a slightly more aggressive approach and don't mind experiencing redness for a few days, Cultura has minimally invasive lasers available, such as the Fractora or Cutera Pearl, which require only less to achieve the desired results. In addition Cultura has numerous lasers with the capacity to remove capillaries and leg veins.
Cultura takes pride in being able to safely and effectively treat patients with skin of color. Cultura has over 9 lasers that can safely be used on darker skin including fractional, Fraxel, Cutera Genesis, Candela GentleYAG, Cynosure Affirm, Cooltouch, Syneron EMatrix, Diolite. These lasers are used to remove unwanted dark spots, melasma & moles, which also can be caused by: over-exposure to the sun; trauma; and hormonal changes from pregnancy, birth control pills and menopause. Cultura's success comes from tailoring treatment to the patient and combining appropriate laser treatments with cosmeceuticals, prescriptions which may include very high strength hydroquinone (bleaching cream) to help lighten the skin and bleach the dark spots; and spa services such as dermatology facials, chemical peels, dermabrasion, and microdermabrasion. Although there is no cure for melasma, Cultura's integrated treatment approach for melasma strategy is able to maintain an even skin tone for years and years. To create the “Cultura Glow” Cultura often combines microdermabrasion with laser treatments on the same day, alternating different lasers during the patient's monthly visits.

One of the first tools we use in our practice to assess your skin needs is the VISIA. Pinpointing the causes of skin issues by the naked eye can be difficult. With our system, we can show you exactly where your skin issues are and how to solve them.
As you age your skin may discolor, feel rougher, and wrinkle. At Cultura, we specialize in Complexion Blending as a way to address your skin issues for both young and the young at heart.
Complexion Blending [How It Works]
Our trademarked and proprietary way of Complexion Blending uses a series of laser treatments to resurface, even skin tone, and shrink the appearance of pores. Through this process, patients skin will turnover and regenerate an even-toned complexion.
In addition, these treatments have been shown to improve the production of elastin and collagen to leave you looking more youthful.
Lasers vs. Skincare
Cultura treats dark spots and texture issues by going in both directions, top down and bottom up. Top down is using products, topical prescriptions and spa therapies like facials, peels and microdermabrasion. Bottom up is having laser treatments. Some issues are superficial which are best treated from above with products and spa treatments and some issues are deep and best treated with lasers. Most issues that are still on the skin after 3 months are deep and probably require both a topical approach and laser treatments. Topical products are limited to the surface of the skin. Many of our laser treat both the surface issues and penetrate deeper for improvement of difficult and stubborn skin issues.
Safe for Skin of Color
All of our treatments are tailored to be safe and effective for skin of color. Dr. Eliot Battle is a nationally and internationally renowned cosmetic dermatologist and a leading expert in skin of color. His vision has built the solutions we offer in the office for people from all walks of life.
Texture Rejuvenation Washington DC
Improvement of skin texture is one of the most sought out procedures at Cultura. Many women and men in the Washington DC metro area want to reduce their large pores; minimize or reduce their acne scars; and improve or smooth their overall skin texture. Texture Rejuvenation™ at our Washington DC center provides these improvements and more. Aging skin also benefits from Texture Rejuvenation for as your skin ages, it loses collagen, its natural elasticity and shows signs of degeneration. This is due to a combination of factors including genetics, lifestyle, diet, sun damage and other exposures that have various implications on the skin. Skin loses its texture and becomes rough primarily due to excess layers of dead skin. At Cultura, our expert skin care practitioners can improve your skin's texture and condition using a variety of medical aesthetic procedures including, but not limited to, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and other laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments. Typically, a combination and series of treatments work best including in-office laser therapy combined with take-home, medical-grade products. Texture Rejuvenation™ can also be combined with or address other skin anomalies such as skin tone, wrinkles, scars, acne and other problems.
