What Is Brow Lift Surgery?

Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift, is an outpatient plastic surgery procedure designed to rejuvenate the upper face.

It tightens forehead tissue, muscles, and skin in order to lift sagging brows and smooth horizontal lines.

Additionally, a brow lift corrects deep frown lines that develop between the eyebrows.

Who’s a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?

Healthy women and men who experience brow ptosis and are concerned with signs of aging on the upper face are often good candidates for brow lift surgery.

It’s especially well-suited for individuals that have realistic expectations and hope to achieve a more youthful, alert, and refreshed appearance.

How Is Brow Lift Surgery Performed?

There are a number of possible approaches to brow lift surgery. Following a careful assessment of each patient’s facial structures, skin elasticity, degree of brow ptosis, concerns, and goals, Cultura’s board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kelly Bolden will create a customized surgical plan for you.

In many cases, an endoscopic brow lift is a viable and less-invasive option. It involves making small incisions in the hairline and using an endoscope to tighten underlying muscles.

Additionally, minor brow ptosis may be corrected with fine incisions to the upper eyelid creases or eyebrow hairline margins.

For significant sagging and furrowing, a larger incision behind the hairline may be necessary.

Brow lift surgery may be performed using local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia - depending on the complexity of the procedure.

What to Expect from Brow Lift Recovery?

Following brow lift surgery, incision sites are bandaged and, in some instances, drains may be placed to help reduce swelling and bruising.

Patients will be prescribed pain medication and instructed to sleep with their heads elevated for several days.

Incisions often heal within two weeks, and women and men may resume social activities and return to work. However, they should allow six-to-eight weeks before engaging in physical activities.
