Rejuvenating With Cosmetic Surgery? Here’s a Quick Guide to Preparing For Your Traditional Face Lift!

As you get older, your skin starts to lose elasticity and definition. The tell-tale signs of aging start to appear, including fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Traditional face lifts help restore youthful looking skin and brighten your appearance. Once you find an excellent plastic surgeon to perform your surgery, you need help preparing for your traditional face lift.

So, What Exactly Is a Traditional Face Lift Surgery?

A traditional face lift starts with an incision made in your hairline next to your temples. This incision continues from the front of your ear to your lower scalp behind your ears, while remaining extremely close to your hair line. Once you have recovered, the results are tighter skin and more defined facial features.

What’s the First Thing I Should Do?

The first thing you should do in preparing for your face lift is to stop smoking. Smoking before any surgery puts you at risk for heart attacks and blood clots. Plus, it really complicates anesthesia, making your heart work harder. It can prolong healing time as well.

Okay, What’s Next?

Also, ditch any use of anti-inflammatory pain relievers, aspirin, or herbal supplements. These can cause extra bruising and bleeding. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any other medications you’re taking in order to decrease complications during your surgery.

Any Other Advice?

Lastly, arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery, and, if possible, stay with you for a couple days. You are going to be put under anesthesia, so you may want a helping hand for a little while.
