What to Expect During Your Mommy Makeover Recovery
Mommy Makeover Washington DC
After having children, many women are unable to regain their pre-pregnancy bodies through diet and exercise alone.
As a result, they often decide to undergo a mommy makeover, which is a combination of cosmetic procedures and can include an abdominoplasty, breast surgery, liposuction, and a Brazilian butt lift.
However, before committing to a mommy makeover, its important for patients to fully understand each step of the treatment, including the recovery process.
Keep reading to learn what women can expect during their mommy makeover recovery.
How Long Is a Mommy Makeover Recovery?
Recovery from a mommy makeover can vary from patient to patient depending of the complexity of the case and the type of procedures that were performed.
That being said, most women will need approximately two weeks of downtime after surgery.
During this time, they should rest at home and enlist the help of another adult, as movement and heavy lifting will be restricted.
What Can Patients Expect During Recovery?
Following a mommy makeover, its not unusual to experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treatment areas.
These effects will begin to subside within several weeks, and the results of your procedure will become more evident.
As you heal, you can slowly increase your physical activity under the supervision of your plastic surgeon.
However, it can take up to 3 months for women to fully resume their normal routine.
Its also important to note that women may not see final results until 6 months post-procedure.
How to Ensure a Smooth and Safe Mommy Makeover Recovery?
To start, women must not smoke during their mommy makeover recovery, as doing so can result in delayed and/or poor wound healing.
They should also avoid dieting and trying to lose weight, and instead, nourish their bodies with healthy foods like fresh vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and lean protein.
Additionally, as patients return to their usual activities, including exercise, its recommend that they discontinue anything that causes discomfort or pain and take it easy when necessary.
Finally, when in doubt, women should contact their plastic surgeon about any questions or concerns related to their mommy makeover recovery.
