While liposuction is not meant for weight loss, it can help women and men eliminate unwanted fat and achieve a leaner and more defined physique.

If you’ve been struggling with stubborn bulges and want to be more confident in a sleeveless dress, shorts, or a bathing suit, liposuction may offer a safe and effective way to reach your body goals.

So, what can liposuction do for you?

Here’s everything you need to know about the treatment and its benefits.

What Is Liposuction?

Tumescent liposuction is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that removes localized fat deposits from the body.

Unlike traditional liposuction, patients are able to be awake for the duration of the procedure, and it can be performed in the comfort of a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s surgical suite.

During tumescent liposuction, a solution containing lidocaine and epinephrine is infused under the skin.

This causes the treatment area to swell and become numb. A cannula is then used to suction out fat and fluid and artfully reshape the body.

What Can Liposuction Do for You?

Many women and men seek liposuction to improve how they look and feel in and out of their clothes.

They often have areas of stubborn fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise and would like to improve the shape and size of a particular part of the body.

Liposuction is especially well-suited for contouring the abdomen, flanks, inner thighs, outer thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, upper arms, back, chest, chin, and jawline.

Best of all, the procedure has considerably fewer risks than traditional liposuction, and most patients are able to return to work and normal activities within a few days.

How Soon Will You See Results?

While some individuals will note improvement immediately after liposuction, it can take several months to see final effects.

That being said, this is a one-time treatment and results are meant to be permanent as long as stable weight and healthy lifestyle are maintained.
