CoolSculpting Fat Freezing Treatment: We Tried It!

So we’ve all heard about how painless and easy CoolSculpting (and just about every other cosmetic treatment) is, but perhaps you’re skeptical.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, right? What’s the catch?

In a recent post to the ESSENCE video series “We Tried It,” one of their editors, Ms. Julee Wilson, tried out CoolSculpting herself.

The process? Surprisingly… pleasant.

It’s Like… a Really Gnarly Hickey.

The video starts with the usual: an explanation to the patient about what’s about to happen, some lines drawn with a sharpie for the benefit of the physician.

In this case, they decide to work on the love handles below the bra lines. And when they apply the apparent “slight discomfort” CoolSculpting?

Well… It’s like a really gnarly hickey, she says. Now, she doesn’t make a completely pleasant face as it occurs. But then the doctor says the line of saving grace.

“And that’s the worst of it.”

“That’s the worst of it? I can deal with that.”

Doing Her Work with No Distractions

The nicest part of the CoolSculpting process? You can bring your laptop and phone and do what you need to do.

According to Wilson, the feeling of the CoolSculpting implement was mild enough that she could get her work done without feeling distracted by it.

Given that the worst part of so many cosmetic treatments might be sheer boredom at having to sit there, that’s a pretty big plus for CoolSculpting. I can catch up on work and talk to my friends on the phone? Big checkmark.

Overall, the advertising for CoolSculpting seems to live up to its promise. A little uncomfortable, but nothing too bad, and with a smartphone and some apps to distract, the half hour should fly right by.
