7 Things to Ask During Your Plastic Surgery Consultation

Remember: it’s your body.

No matter what, you can’t let your sense of propriety stop you from asking exactly what you need to know to ensure that your plastic surgery is a success.

Here are seven things to ask about.

1. Ask Your Surgeon About Their Credentials

Can they do it? That’s the basic question.

Credentials are the quickest and easiest way to sort through most. Where did they train? Are they board certified? How long have they been performing the procedure and how many times?

These are just basic things to ask.

2. Is Their Facility Accredited?

Right after the credentials of the surgeon are the credentials of the facility.

If your physician is board certified, then they definitely perform at an accredited facility–if they work at a private surgery center, go the extra step and find out they have a transfer agreement with an accredited hospital.

3. The Surgeon Is Open to Your Goals

It’s not just competence. It’s consideration and trust.

Make sure the surgeon is on board with what you want, and you’re both in strong agreement.

4. They Tell You the Nitty Gritty

It’s not all fun and sunshine. You gotta get deep in the details.

What’s recovery look like? How much will it cost? What are my options, and why should I do one or the other?

5. Make Sure They’re Working for You First

No serious surgeon acts like a salesman trying to get the patient to buy a care.

Don’t be bullied into a procedure that you don’t want.

6. The Photos!

Some of the surest proof a surgeon can provide is before and after photos.

Make sure to look through the surgeons’ gallery, and not just the ones on the website.

7. Make Sure You like the Staff and the Practice

Customer service matters. Is the staff friendly? Do they keep the waiting room clean?

It makes your experience better, but it’s also a reflection of how well the facility takes care of things. Don’t settle for anything less than the best. It’s your body.
