Dr. Battle on ABC
Culturas nationally and internationally renowned cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Eliot Battle, joined ABC2’s In Focus to discuss the best skin care treatments for your needs.
While many people know that their skin is can be a window into their overall health, not many people know how to get on a good skincare regime or what treatment options are available.
Dr. Battle, who helped pioneer the new generation of “color blind” cosmetic lasers, spoke to In Focus about why he became a dermatologist.
There were so few experts in our field. I love lasers, and cosmetic dermatology allowed me to really embrace both my love for lasers and the skin.
Cultura is committed to improving and enhancing your skin and beauty and with the breakthroughs in cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Battle continues to be at the forefront of that movement.
We have such amazing tools now. Its not the color of your skin, its the culture of your skin that matters. Culture means ethnicity, skin color, smoking history, exercise history, all these different factors including genetics, said Dr. Battle.
From cellulite for women, stretchmarks and complexion. We can get rid of dark spots, blood vessels. Were at a whole new generation of lasers. Not only can we get rid of them, they are available for all races and skin colors too, Dr. Battle.
In terms of skincare product application, Dr. Battles suggestion is top down, bottom up.
Top down is products and prescriptions. We all should be exfoliating. Exfoliating is either scrubbing or dissolving. We all should be using some form of Retin-A or Retinol, a Vitamin A derivative because it makes your skin thicker and oil glands smaller. And we all should be using some form of Vitamin C because it strengthens your collagen, said Dr. Battle.
Dr. Battle is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Laser Medicine & Surgery, and numerous International Societies. He is past Chairman of the Dermatology Section of the National Medical Association and past President of the Howard University Medical Alumni Association.
