CoolSculpting or Liposuction?

CoolSculpting or Liposuction? For patients looking for fat reduction, it’s a tougher decision than it might seem.

Given all the positive press about innovative and noninvasive fat reduction treatments, it’s easy to think that these procedures have replaced traditional procedures. But both have their place.

Recovery Time and How Invasive

The first and easy fact to point out is that CoolSculpting is simply an easier procedure on the body. Whereas CoolSculpting can be done and have you running to the gym the very next day, Liposuction can take quite a while to recover from.

Liposuction takes a few days before an individual can return to work, and a couple of weeks before complete resumption of normal activities. Various pains and tenderness can persist up to eight weeks.

Dramatic Results

So it’s an easy choice, right? Let’s put the cold on for a couple of hours and go hit the elliptical.

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. While CoolSculpting is easier on the body, it simply does not achieve the same dramatic results. Liposuction can achieve very obvious results in just one session – with 90 percent reduction of fat in the area it’s applied to.

CoolSculpting has more modest effects. In an area of treatment, it can achieve 20 percent reduction of fat. This is a fairly large amount, but, still, to achieve the full effects patients are usually looking for it takes more treatment sessions.

Finally, there’s the matter of cost to consider. As it’s a newer and more advanced treatment, CoolSculpting can cost 20 percent more for the same results- because it takes a few treatment sessions to achieve.

Ultimately, it just goes to show that there’s a role and a place for all these different treatments, and it really depends on your needs as an individual. Interested in either of these treatments, or fat reduction in general?
