Acne Therapy
Acne is test commonly considered to be a condition most often occurring among teenagers. Adults now figure prominently among those looking for acne remedies and solutions. Over the past 8 years we have seen a dramatic rise in adults seeking treatment for acne.
Some scientists speculate that we are experiencing such an increased incidence of adult acne as a result of growth hormones used for livestock getting into our food supply.
Regardless, acne needs to be aggressively treated. Acne can break out on the face and other parts of the skin (back, shoulders, trunk, arms and even buttocks) at any age. Think of acne as a “perfect storm” of skin conditions, when genetics and hormones meet glands producing an over supply of oil that clogs tiny holes in the skin known as pores.
The result? Clogged pores lead to blocked pores. When oil tries to push by clogged or blocked pores it enlarges the pore. When pores enlarge, dirt and bacteria can more easily enter oil glands, leading to acne which results in blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, inflamed red papules and bumps (pimples or zits).

Because each acne breakout case is unique, Cultura’s dermatologists tailor treatments based on both a clinical- and a computer-aided skin analysis that measures bacteria count, size of pores, level of inflammation and redness. Treatment can include conventional dermatologic treatments (antibiotics, Retin A), spa therapy (exfoliations) and laser and light treatments that may or may not combine photodynamic therapy (PDT).
